Since I've been working on capsules for the past couple days, I haven't gotten a chance to catch you up on some of the goings on in the non-BCS. But here are a couple stories to bring you up to speed:

• New Mexico State coach DeWayne Walker is the subject of a story about coaching diversity.

• Boise State is learning to use social networking sites to promote the team and its players.

• Former San Diego State football player Brian Simnjanovski was killed in a one-car accident over the weekend.

• Kent State will face South Alabama, which is just starting its football program, in 2011, 2013 and 2014.

• Western Michigan coach Bill Cubit is one of several WMU coaches who has been educating his players about the dangers of gambling on games.
