• BYU has a unique set of standards for its student athletes and a violation of those standards, as reported by the Deseret News, has coach Bronco Mendenhall issuing statements about on-campus improprieties.

• Hawaii is starting to consistently retain recruits form the North Shore.

• Southern Miss has grabbed another big recruit in receiver Mujahid Assad, who had more than 1,000 yards receiving last season.

• Boise State landed a commitment from safety Jonathan Brown, which now gives the Broncos commitments from two of the Bay Area's top players.

• Memphis has enrolled top junior college prospect Justin Thompson, who was originally an Oregon commit, but didn't academically qualify.

• Notre Dame already has a jumpstart on its 2010 class.
