Lunchtime links: Coaches in, out and in-between

Since coaches are such a hot topic today across all of college football, I thought I'd do a coach-themed links post today.

• Could another coach be named at the end of the day? That's what the Deseret News is reporting. Jared Eborn writes that Utah State is hammering out the details of a contract that would make Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen the Aggies' new head coach. The deal could be done by the end of the day.

• While Utah State is ready to hire a coach, San Diego State has hired a firm to assist with their coaching search, according to the San Diego Union Tribune. Apparently, former running back Marshall Faulk will be brought in to help as well.

• And staying with coaching searches, the buzz around Pat Hill's visit to Washington is starting to make some media wonder whether Hill might actually leave Fresno State.

• Louisiana Tech coach Derek Dooley could be out the door, too, which would put the Bulldogs in a bind of having to find a football coach and an athletic director. I guess Dooley has to give schools permission to talk to him.

• Eastern Michigan coach Jeff Genyk wanted to leave on a high note and might have incited a fight because of it. At the very least, he piqued the interest of MAC commissioner Rick Chryst.

• And to coaches who are being kept on, Jeff Carroll of the South Bend Tribune writes that keeping Charlie Weis at Notre Dame perpetuates a double standard between Weis and former coach Ty Willingham.

• And UCF coach George O'Leary isn't going to be fired or retire, but he's vowed to rebuild UCF.

Utah State Aggies, San Diego State Aztecs, Pat Hill, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Eastern Michigan Eagles, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Central Florida Knights
