MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Mike Nugent is back. He attempted the extra point to give the New York Jets a 20-7 lead over the Miami Dolphins late in the third quarter. He limped down the field after taking the ensuing kickoff.
Nugent suffered a thigh injury in the first quarter and remained on the sideline despite a fourth-and-14 situation at the Dolphins 22-yard line in the second quarter. Brett Favre somehow completed a TD lob to Chansi Stuckey, and the Jets went for the two-point conversion.
Backup QB Kellen Clemens and S Kerry Rhodes were kicking off during warmups before the second half. P Ben Graham was trying his foot at drop kicks.
