Jets can't (reasonably) trade Favre to the Vikings

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- One of the most frequent questions I've had since this blog started went something like this: Could the Minnesota Vikings acquire quarterback Brett Favre in a three-way trade that would allow them to circumvent the wishes of the Green Bay Packers?

In other words: Team X acquires Favre from the Packers, ostensibly to be its starter, but then turns around and trades him to the Vikings.

The NFL is a small family, and I always doubted whether one team could ever dupe another in that way. But according to the NFL Network, the Packers made sure it won't happen. To complete the trade, according to the network, the Jets agreed to give the Packers three first-round draft choices if they trade Favre to the Vikings.

That ought to do the trick.

Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets
