Cardinals have bigger concerns than James

The Cardinals are declining to release Edgerrin James, which reminds us that, yes, James remains on the 53-man roster.

This development, by itself, shouldn't affect the Cardinals much as long as James doesn't take his complaints to another level. The Cardinals would be foolish to release a starting-caliber running back just to facilitate the player's desire to start on another team. Did James really think the organization would let him go?

The Cardinals are enjoying their finest season in years, so it's an unlikely time for players to air complaints. Anquan Boldin and Darnell Dockett have kept quiet after complaining about their contracts during the offseason. Looking ahead, the Cardinals will also have to address situations involving Kurt Warner and Karlos Dansby, who are without contracts for 2009.
