Nolan: No decision yet on QB Smith

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Coach Mike Nolan and 49ers officials plan to meet with medical personnel shortly to determine a course of action for injured quarterback Alex Smith.

That was the word from Nolan during his day-after-game news briefing at team headquarters moments ago. Nolan said the team will make a decision on signing a veteran only after determining for sure how long Smith's injured shoulder will need to recover.
