The NFL has announced that New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Month for September.

The honor is well-deserved because Brees has almost single-handedly carried the injury-riddled Saints to a 2-2 start. It's the first time in his career Brees has been named Player of the Month.

He's the first New Orleans quarterback to be named Player of the Month since Bobby Hebert in 1989. The Saints hadn't had an Offensive Player of the Month since Deuce McAllister won it in October 2002.
