Detroit coach Rod Marinelli faced a series of questions about his quarterback situation Wednesday, a day after the team placed starter Jon Kitna on injured reserve. Marinelli said Dan Orlovsky will continue to start but wouldn't rule out the possibility that second-year quarterback Drew Stanton could eventually be worked into the equation.

Here's the transcript of that portion of Marinelli's news conference in Allen Park, Mich., courtesy of the Lions' public relations department:

On the effect on the depth chart as far as the QB spot: Well, Dan got most of the reps -- a few more today. But we're still bringing Drew along; Drew 1 [Stanton] and Drew 2 [Henson].

On if Orlovsky and Stanton are splitting the reps 50-50: It was, I think, 70-30 last week, I can't recall the [exact] percent. But Dan's getting more.

On if the quarterback decision is week-by-week or if Orlovsky is the starter: Well, I feel good. We want to take a great look at him ... One thing for Drew [Stanton] right now [that's] good is getting game preparation. We'll see how he goes as the season goes on.

On if the quarterback decision is week-by-week: No, I'm not saying that. I'm not saying week-by-week. Dan's our starter right now.

On if there will be a decision to make when Stanton gets up to speed: I think you always look at how a man's performing game day. So we got a great opportunity, and [we'll] review his game tape.
