I spent some time down at the University of Maryland yesterday for the Maryland Film Festival where high school coaches go to showcase their talented players to colleges from around the nation and got a few recruiting updates to pass along.

Quince Orchard's Jason Ankrah has begun his official visits. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end has already visited Nebraska and Michigan and will head to Maryland this weekend. The senior plans to visit Virginia Tech in January.

Seneca Valley's Xavier Hughes has also started his official visits. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound defensive back has been to Ohio University and is planning a visit to West Virginia soon. Temple is another school that has been expressing interest in Hughes according to his head coach Fred Kim.

Maybe the best-kept secret in Maryland is Cambridge-South Dorchester's Jeremiah Howe. The 5-foot-9, 168-pound Howe accounted for over 30 touchdowns from almost every offensive position. Cambridge-SD head coach Jake Coleman said Delaware has expressed interest and said they may offer after Christmas. Temple has also been around asking about Howe who will participate in next week's Maryland Crab Bowl.

Clarksburg has recorded back-to-back 10 win seasons and colleges are beginning to take notice. Miles Daughtry looks like he could be headed to a Division II school with Rhode Island, Shepherd, and Millersville all expressing interest in the senior wide receiver.

Quarterback Cody Martin who threw for over 1,600 yards and 24 touchdowns this season has also been getting interest from some Division II colleges, including Shippensburg, Shepherd and Millersville.

Check back to MDVarsity.com on Monday when I will post another recruiting update from the Maryland Film Festival.
