Welcome to MDVarsity.com on ESPN

After being hosted for more than eight years by Rivals.com, the MDVarsity.com Web site is now part of ESPN.

This blog format is only temporary. All of the other features from the previous web site, including message boards, will eventually be added.

It is never easy to switch in the internet world, but going to the Worldwide Leader in Sports is an opportunity that excites the people behind all of the sites in the Student Sports Inc. family. These sites on ESPN are going to be off the charts for the athletes, coaches, parents, and fans throughout the country.

We will continue to cover the key combines and camps, recruiting and games along with the State Top 25 and classification rankings. Our coverage of everything Maryland high school football related will be enhanced in the coming months.

We need to credit four people who contributed mightily to this site becoming part of ESPN who have passed away in recent years. This would be Student Sports co-founder Nelson Tennis, former Student Sports marketing director Kim Blankinship, former team sales manager and longtime supporter Jerry Keane and Larry Bark, father of president and co-founder Andy Bark. In addition, we need to thank Mark Thomas for starting the original MDVarsity.com Web site nearly a decade ago.
