Around the horn today in high school baseball the top lefties from across the country are featured. For many of the top high school players they play year around whether it is the spring season, summer showcase circuit, or the top fall/winter tournaments and these five pitchers have put themselves in the premier spot heading into the high school season.

Tyler Matzek-P 6'3 185lbs. '09 Capistrano Valley/Capistrano Valley, CA
This is the standout lefty in the country with an advanced delivery and a mid 90's fastball. Has all the ingredients of a power pitcher.

Matthew Purke-P 6'3 180lbs. '09 Klein/Spring, TX
An excellent pitcher with a low 90's fastball and a strong breaking pitch that is one of the best overall in the 2009 class.

Ian Krol-P 6'1 180lbs. '09 Neuqua Valley/Naperville, IL
A standout with pin point control of his fastball and has smooth delivery. Dominating lefty at the high school level.

Tyler Skaggs-P 6'4 175lbs. '09 Santa Monica/Los Angeles, CA
Known mainly for his devastating curve ball. He also features a 90mph fastball that is perhaps his best pitch.

Paul Strong-P 6'2 200lbs. '09 Marina/Huntington Beach, CA
Is a consistent strike thrower that has a three-pitch repertoire. Hitters have a tough time gauging his curve ball.
