ESPN RISE FAB 50 No. 5 Mater Dei earned its first CIF Championship in boys' volleyball this year.  Salvatore La Cavera III spoke to ESPN RISE about team, championships and the chain around his neck.

	Loyola celebrates its CIF SS Div. I victory over Mater Dei.

The feeling of electricity and anticipation filled the air inside the gymnasium at Cypress College (Cypress, Calif.), home to the CIF Southern Section Div. I finals, where ESPN RISE FAB 50 No. 2 Loyola (Los Angeles, Calif.) faced off against No. 11 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.).  

Each team began warm ups with palpable excitement as it took the court for the pre-match routine.  Loyola won the toss and took the floor first.  As the Cubs unleashed in hitting lines, Mater Dei went through its passing routing.  The Mater Dei players stepped up within a foot of their coach and received a huge hit to the chest as the other players barked and hollered.  During its passing routine, Loyola, although clearly amped for the match, uniformly passed and chanted "up."(Read full post)
