AAU Beach and USA Beach Tour Championships  August 14, 2008 3:52 PM By Christine Jinbo The AAU and USA Beach tours have season culminating events this weekend. Both named Tour Championships, the events will feature teams from the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. The 2007 Tour Championships featured Junior National Beach Team players, Caitlin Ledoux (Phelan, Calif.), Jocelyn Neely (La Habra, Calif.), high school All-American Falyn Fonoimoana (Hermosa Beach, Calif.), Student Sports High School All-Americans Steven Mochaski (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Ian Satterfield (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Gus Tuaniga (Hemit, Calif.), Jack Mergenthaler (Encinitas, Calif.) and Student Sports Junior Player of the Year Myles Muagututia (Oceanside, Calif.). The USA Beach Junior Tour Championships, presented by Spalding will take place at Huntington Beach, Calif. on the North side of the Huntington Beach Pier this Saturday, August 16. AAU Beach Volleyball J.O. Games  August 7, 2008 6:22 PM Posted by Christine Jinbo The AAU Junior Olympic Games took place at Detroit, MI and featured competitions in 21 different sports. One of the most anticipated events of the J.O. Games is the Celebration of Athletes, the "opening ceremonies for the AAU Junior Olympic Games. A performance by the Martin Luther King Jr. high school (Detroit, MI) marching band was one of the highlights of the night. The band raised over $250,000 in order to travel to its next performance in Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.  The Beach Volleyball competition showcased girls in the U16 Division who qualified to participate. USA Junior National Beach Team Profile  July 29, 2008 4:27 PM Posted by Christine Jinbo USA Volleyball's Beach Division selected Caitlin Ledoux and Tara Roenicke to represent the USA in The Hague, Netherlands as part of the U19 Junior National Beach Team. The team, although new to playing together, both have beach experience on the national junior tours of AAU Beach and USA Beach. In 2006, Ledoux placed first in the Under 16 division of the USA Beach Tour Championships at Seal Beach, Calif. with partner Jocelyn Neely. McKibbin and Montgomery to World Championships  July 24, 2008 1:22 PM Posted by Christine Jinbo  We caught up with the beach team of Will Montgomery (pictured right) and Maddison McKibbin (pictured left) who filled us in on what its like to train with the Junior National Beach Team and what they expect from the FIVB U19 Junior World Championships at The Hague, Netherlands. This beach team has the potential to make a splash in the competition. Both Montgomery and McKibbin are accomplished beach players, but these two are not just beach bums.
