The USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships, hosted by USA Volleyball at the Miami Beach Convention Center, crowned three champions in 17-and-under age division brackets. The 10-day event runs from June 26 to July 5.

The 17 Open Gold Bracket Championship found Mizuno Long Beach 17 Mizuno (Long Beach, Calif.) on opposite sides of the net from Northern Lights 17-1 (Burnsville, Minn.).

Northern Lights 17-1 captured the Gold Medal Championships in the 17 Open Division of the AAU National Championships (Orlando, Fla.), but could not repeat the feat and fell, 25-20, 29-27, 25-22 to Miz Long Beach 17 Mizuno.

Long Beach Mizuno, which won the major SCVA Las Vegas Invitational in February and qualified through the Southern California Regional, defeated Wave 17 Jeanne Spalding (San Diego, Calif.) 25-19, 26-24, 25-22 in the semifinals and Sunshine 17 (Los Angeles, Calif.) 25-22, 25-21, 25-16 in the quarterfinals.

Northern Lights 17-1 reached the title match with a 25-16, 25-22, 25-22 quarterfinal win over Texas Tornados 17 Mizuno (Houston, Texas) and a 25-22, 25-20, 25-15 victory over Vision 17 Gold (San Jose, Calif.) in the semifinals.
