No. 6 Medina (Ohio) 1, No. 2 Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) 0: Becca Candler scored in the second half and Taylor Burke made it stand up with her 11th straight shutout as Medina defeated Walsh Jesuit in the state semifinals. The teams tied during the regular season. Medina's state semifinal victory ends Walsh Jesuit's undefeated season.

Dublin Coffman (Ohio) 2, No. 7 Centerville (Ohio) 1: The Shamrocks rallied fom a 1-0 deficit to pull off an upset in the state semifinals. Kenzie Schlemitz scored the match-winning goal.

No. 1 St. Ignatius (Ohio) 1, No. 7 Strongsville (Ohio) 0: Yianni Sarris goal midway through the second half carried St. Ignatius to a state semifinal victory. St. Ignatius keeper Joe Kalt extended his state record to 44 career shutouts. St. Ignatius will face No. 4 Lincoln in the state final Friday night at Crew Stadium in Columbus.

Green Hope (N.C.) 2, No. 3 Jordan (N.C.) 1: Jared Girard scored both goals and even had a foot in Jordan's goal as Green Hope knocked off former undefeated Jordan. Although Girard netted the two goals for Green Hope, coach Andrew Chadwick said Girard's deflection of the ball accounted for Jordan's lone score in this playoff meeting

No. 4 Gahanna Lincoln (Ohio) 2, Beavercreek (Ohio) 0: The favorites advanced as Lincoln defeated Beavercreek to secure a showdown with St. Ignatius for the Ohio Division 1 state crown Friday.

Zionsville (Ind.) knocked off a pair of state-ranked foes to inch higher in the Indiana rankings this week while it was pretty much status quo among the top teams in the larger fall-playing states.

The big winner this week was Jesuit (Ore.), which avenged its only loss with a 5-1 victory over Westview (Ore.) in a meeting between the two top-ranked teams in Oregon.

This week, state champions will be crowned in Utah and Montana.

The race for No. 1 in Ohio is heating up and it appears any of the current ESPN RISE state-by-state Top 7 teams in the state could very well walk away with the Division 1 title.  The top four teams -- Strongsville, St. Ursula, Walsh Jesuit and Medina -- remain the frontrunners. This week, Walsh Jesuit and St. Ursula swap spots to move Walsh Jesuit next to Medina, the team it tied last week. 

In the most bizarre result of the week, a contest between Villa Joseph Marie (Pa.) and Strath Haven (Pa.) was halted while tied 1-1 late in the first half. VJM pulled its players from the field when there was no trainer to tend to an injured player, according to published reports. The reports indicated VJM coach Rick Finneyfrock thought it was a state rule that the home team -- in this case Strath Haven -- must have a trainer present for the match, thus he refused to continue the match. It was later learned that having a trainer present is merely strongly encouraged, but not a state rule. VJM could be required to forfeit the match, but it was unclear if Strath Haven would pursue such an avenue. Finneyfrock said he is willing to replay the match or pick it up from where it was halted.

For the time being, ESPN RISE is listing the match as a draw, although that will change depending on what the schools decide to do with the contest. If the match is not continued or replayed, the most likely outcome would be striking the result from the record, unless VJM is required to forfeit.

Pennsbury (Pa.) exacted a measure of revenge by defeating Council Rock North (Pa.) in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 battle in Pennsylvania.

Council Rock North had won the first meeting.

Pennsbury's victory vaults this District 1 team back to No. 1 in the state, where it started the season in the ESPN RISE state-by-state rankings.

Another big winner in this week's rankings is Sunset (Ore.), which jumped from No. 3 to No. 1 in Oregon after defeating former No. 1 Portland Jesuit (Ore.). In what is proving to be a very balanced year in Oregon -- full of draws and one-loss teams -- Sunset is among the last to be undefeated entering the stretch run.

The first team to finalize a place in the ESPN RISE state-by-state rankings list is O'Gorman (S.D.), which claimed its third straight state title over the week.

No. 9 Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) 1, No. 25 Medina (Ohio) 1: Sarah Flanders' free kick in the first half gave Medina a lead, but Kelsey Smigel tied the match with a goal seven minutes into the second half. Walsh Jesuit is 12-0-2 and Medina is 9-1-2.

No. 11 St. Ursula (Ohio) 6, Seton (Ohio) 0: Elizabeth Burchenal had three goals and Amber Bledsoe, Nicole King and Ellen Gruber each scored as St. Ursula won on senior's night. Aubrey Bledsoe had the shutout.

No. 14 Downingtown West (Pa.) 6, Avon Grove (Pa.) 0: Steph Myers scored three goals, Morgan Dankanich added two and Lauren Wilson had one in the victory. Madi Davenport added a pair of assists.
