Girls state-by-state rankings

January 21, 2009 1:52 AM

By Sheldon Shealer, editor

A trio of undefeated teams - Foothill (Calif.), George Jenkins (Fla.) and The Woodlands (Texas) are positioning themselves for a run for No. 1 in 2009.

Foothill, the top-ranked California squad and FAB 50 No. 1, will stay in the top position until it loses. George Jenkins (Fla.) wrapped up a second straight undefeated regular season last week. The Woodlands (Texas), early in its season, has won back-to-back tournaments to reinforce its high national standing.

Look for the Florida rankings to undergo changes next week as the playoff begin, and upsets are bond to happen.

Today, we release the weekly ESPN Rise state-by-state rankings with the ESPN Rise FAB 50 to appear Tuesday on ESPNRise.com.
