CalHiSports.com released its state player of the year in baseball.  The honor this year went to Tyler Matzek, pitcher from Capistrano Valley (Mission Viejo, Calif.) High School. It was a tremendous run through the playoffs for the lefty and for the Cougars, as they won the CIFSS Div. I title over Edison of Huntington Beach.  Matzek did not start, but his solo shot in the 6th and his pitching in the seventh gave the Cougars the title.  For more on the state player of the year click here.
