Let me encourage you to come here each morning for all the latest NFC East news. Pretty slim pickins' right now, but we're not throwing in the towel. Until next week when I go on vacation.
Cowboys
- Mac Engel of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Cowboys are looking for another backup quarterback. They're concerned that Brad "Check Down" Johnson might not have what it takes should something happen to Tony Romo. According to Engel, the name "floating" around Valley Ranch is Chris Simms.
- Linebacker Kevin Burnett asks some questions about player conduct in his strangely fascinating blog on DallasNews.com.
- Darren Woodson agrees that Cowboys linebacker Zach Thomas is the smartest defensive player in the game. I talked to Woody for a story about Roy Williams recently. He's one of the most gracious guys I've ever dealt with -- and that goes back to his playing days.
"After a 13-3 season, they took minimal hits in free agency. Re-signing left tacke Flozell Adams was a key move. They could get immediate help from running back Felix Jones and cornerback Mike Jenkins, their two first-round picks."
Eagles
- If you enjoy getting your news from a man in an Eagles fleece, have at it.
- Language warning: The Eagletarian blog was a little cranky about a recent Jevon Kearse column by our guy Paul Kuharsky.
Giants
- Ohm Youngmisuk is filling in for New York Daily News beat man Ralph Vacchiano. According to Ohm, there's a good chance Plaxico Burress will have a new contract when he shows up in Albany.
Redskins
- Jason La Canfora has returned from vacation and he has an update on Washington's training camp. If you want to attend practice, make sure you grab a lawn chair or a blanket. The club isn't offering stands.
Favre
- Peter King is one of Brett Favre's biggest defenders, but he removed his No. 4 jersey to file this report.
