File this one under great (or dubious) nicknames. Arizona rookie Brandon Keith, who recently pleaded guilty and received one year of probation for two misdemeanor charges stemming from a fracas in Iowa, goes by "Taz" around the Cardinals' facility. In one of the least likely passages ever to appear on an NFL team Web site, Keith explained the nickname this way:

"Even (Matt) Leinart was like, 'You really got tasered? Did it hurt?' " said Keith, who was hit with a taser by Iowa police during a disturbance right before the draft. "They call me 'Taz.' They say its short for Tasmanian devil, but I think it's short for taser. I tell them, 'Y'all are trying to be funny.' But it's a rookie thing, so I am down with it."

The article also includes feedback from Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, who disputes Keith's story about his time at Oklahoma. Keith began his college career with the Sooners and finished it at Northern Iowa. What happened along the way is up for debate. More recently, the Cardinals made Keith the 225th player selected in the 2008 draft and the first on record to draw his nickname from an electroshock weapon.
