The Titans have agreed to terms with fourth-round wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins.

Hawkins looked impressive through OTA practices and could earn a spot as the team's primary slot receiver. Offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger reminded Hawkins more than once not to get carried away with moves, but to make a cut and get moving. The receiver will also be part of the competition for the returner jobs.

I agree with those who said Hawkins looks like a faster version of Derrick Mason with more wiggle -- no small compliment given that Mason was the best receiver the team developed since moving to Tennessee in 1997.

Hawkins is also notable because he was selected 126th overall with the pick acquired from Dallas in the trade for troubled cornerback Adam Jones.

Tennessee has now reached agreements with two of its seven draft picks. Fourth-round linebacker Stanford Keglar signed a contract last week.
