Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson The LaMont Jordan stalemate in Oakland has started to move some. The player recently visited the Detroit Lions, his agent Alvin Keels said.
It was a pre-trade visit arranged by the Raiders and Lions. Oakland has been trying to trade Jordan in the past month. The team kept Jordan out of its early June minicamp as it attempted to deal him. Yet, the market was slow and the visit to Detroit was the only real movement in a possible trade.
However, there has been little contact between the Lions and Keels since Jordan's visit and it is unknown if the Lions will proceed in finalizing the trade. It would likely take a sixth or seventh-round draft choice to get Jordan.
He is expendable in Oakland because the Raiders just drafted Darren McFadden with the No. 4 overall pick and the Raiders plan to use Justin Fargas and Michael Bush. Jordan has a high price tag for 2008 and a contract renegotiation would likely be needed in a deal with any team.
If Oakland cannot swing a trade, Jordan could go to training camp with the team. However, that could be awkward for both sides since it is clear Oakland is looking to move Jordan. In addition to Detroit, other possible suitors for Jordan could include New England, New Orleans and Chicago.
