Former Detroit Lions tailback Kevin Jones held a workout Saturday, and -- surprise, surprise -- the Lions were among four teams to attend.
In January, Jones underwent surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. It's not clear whether Jones will be ready to play in time for the regular season, but he has said he will be ready for non-contact drills this summer.
The Lions released him in March but were interested enough to send a pro scout to the workout, which was held about 45 minutes outside of Detroit.
According to this Associated Press report, Jones ran and performed shuttle drills in front of officials from the Lions, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins.
Running back-needy teams must ask whether there is enough of a market for Jones -- and demand for tailbacks -- to justify signing Jones before he is fully recovered. Saturday's workout was mostly about giving teams a progress report on his recovery.
