Chris Williams and Matt Forte better be good for the Bears or they are going it hear about it. Many Bears fans and media members thought the team should take a running backin the first round of the recent draft. When Illinois star Rashard Mendenhall was still on the draft board at No. 14, many folks thought it would be a perfect fit. Mendenhall, by all accounts, is primed for a big career and the Bears needed an offensive spark.

Yet, the Bears also had a big need at left tackle and ended up selecting Vanderbilt left tackle Chris Williams. The Bears took Forte, out of Tulane, in the second round. Many fans weren't happy the team bypassed Mendenhall.

Now, the squawking will reach a new high in the light of Cedric Benson's arrest this weekend for allegedly operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol on a Texas lake. Benson has denied he was drunk.

This arrest is the latest off-field issue for the former No. 4 overall pick who has been a disappointment on the field. Of course, if this arrest would have happened prior to the draft, the Bears might have operated differently. Williams and Forte have a chance to be good players, but they must now since Benson's status in Chicago just got shakier.
