Harrison's situation downgraded in Philly

The bizarre incident in North Philadelphia that included Colts All-Pro wide receiver Marvin Harrison last week has been put on the back burner while authorities search for a robbery suspect who allegedly gunned down a police officer over the weekend.

One suspect has already been charged in the killing of Sgt. Steven Liczbinski, who was fatally shot on Saturday while responding to the robbery of a bank inside a grocery store. A manhunt is under way for another suspect and a third suspect was fatally shot by police.

On Friday, a popular sports radio personality in Philadelphia named Anthony Gargano broke the story that an argument inside Harrison's North Philly bar, Playmakers, had resulted in shots being fired from a gun that is owned by the player.

The Philadelphia Daily News quoted a source saying that Harrison had admitted to police that he was in a fistfight last Tuesday, but that he was not involved in a subsequent shooting, which caused minor injuries to one man and a 2-year-old boy, who suffered a cut under his eye from flying glass.

Our man on the scene Sal Paolantonio reports that the investigation regarding the shooting outside Harrison's bar has been taken over by Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham.

We'll eventually have some closure on this Harrison incident, but it's easy to see why it's no longer front page news in Philadelphia. I just read about the gun the ex-con used to shoot and kill the Philadelphia police officer.

The reward for the third suspect is up to $47,000 today, but I hope that figure grows significantly. Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski didn't hesitate when he was the first officer to pursue the suspects. But he paid way too high a price for his heroism in the line of duty.

Pardon me if I don't care too much about Marvin Harrison's status with the Colts right now.
