The Seahawks apparently aren't going to miss former MVP running back Shaun Alexander. For that and other observations from the first few days of Seattle's camp, check out Dave Boling's breakdown this morning. Dave and I worked together for most of the last 17 years. His background in the game informs his observations. Two other guys who caught his eye early in camp: a slimmed-down Floyd Womack and young receiver Logan Payne.

The Seahawks might need younger receivers to step up while Deion Branch recovers from knee surgery. The team let D.J. Hackett leave in free agency without making a serious effort to keep him. Nate Burleson caught nine touchdown passes last season and Bobby Engram is coming off a career year, but Engram is 35 years old. Young receivers Courtney Taylor, Ben Obomanu and Jordan Kent might also factor at the position for Seattle.
