Big news out of the Broncos' camp today.

Brandon Marshall caught three passes with both of his hands. OK, it's not earth shattering but for Marshall is it a major step. The catches today marked the first time Marshall caught passes with his right arm since he was severely injured in March. He suffered a large gash and nerve damage in his forearm after he fell through a glass entertainment center while wrestling with family members.

Last month, Denver coach Mike Shanahan said the team was targeting June 22 as the date Marshall would start catching passes with his right arm. In the past couple of weeks, he has caught some soft passes with his left arm.

Today, though, Marshall was using both hands. The team has been pleased with Marshall's progress and today's development is another step in the right direction. Unless there is a setback, Marshall should be ready to go at the start of training camp, which is July 25.

The Broncos have a good thing going with quarterback Jay Cutler and Marshall, who became the third player in NFL history to catch 100 balls in his second season. If the Broncos are going to improve upon their 7-9 record from last season, Marshall needs to be healthy. Today, he showed he's on his way.

Meanwhile, Niko Koutouvides was back working with the first-team defense at middle linebacker this week. Last week, Nate Webster was working ahead of him. Koutouvides, a special teams ace in Seattle, was signed this offseason to be the middle linebacker in Denver. However, Webster could challenge him in training camp.
