Jacob Hester was a leader on LSU's championship team last season and, of course, follows the Tigers closely.
Hester, a third-round pick of the Chargers, was very interested to see former star recruit quarterback Ryan Perrilloux get kicked off the team by coach Les Miles.
"I really didn't see it coming," Hester said. "It's too bad because Ryan was a good player and the No. 1 recruit in the country when he came out. But he didn't do what he was supposed to do and coach Miles had no choice. I think Ryan was just hanging around the wrong people."
Hester said he hopes the decision to dismiss Perrilloux doesn't hurt the team in the short term.
"We may be inexperienced there now, but rules are rules," Hester said. "It had to be done."
