One of the perils of paying $7 million a year for guards is having to pay more for tackles. Bills left tackle Jason Peters is skipping the team's mandatory camp with three years remaining on his deal. The Bills were aggressive in signing left guard Derrick Dockery at $7 million per year last offseason. They invested a bit less in right tackle Langston Walker, but he's still making solid starter money.
Peters has emerged as one of the game's best left tackles. He'll be paid accordingly, but the question is when. His agents, Eugene Parker and Roosevelt Barnes, have been down this road before. They represented Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones during a three-year standoff with the Seahawks. Jones pocketed franchise-player salaries in the meantime, then landed a massive long-term deal that will likely keep him in Seattle for the remainder of his career.
