Offensive lineman Nick Kaczur is practicing with the rest of the Patriots as the team opens its minicamp at its indoor facility here in Foxborough, Mass. Kaczur, recently implicated in a case involving the illegal possession of prescription painkillers, will not be speaking to reporters after practice. No surprise there. He has worked with the starting offensive line today. The team is a bit short-handed up front because Stephen Neal and the newly signed Oliver Ross are recuperating from injuries.
We have yet to see several Patriots at practice today, including Wes Welker, Kelley Washington, Ellis Hobbs, Benjamin Watson, Bo Ruud, Jarvis Green and Mike Wright. Most of those players are recovering from injuries.
The team appears to be in high spirits. One example: Linebacker Mike Vrabel busted on quarterback Tom Brady after a couple of imperfect spirals during individual drills involving quarterbacks.
