The Cincinnati Bengals, who are on their third defensive coordinator in six years, are holding off on installing 3-4 packages.

New defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and his staff are in the process of teaching players a new 4-3 scheme. The team is trying to work out those kinks in organized team activities and its upcoming minicamp on June 12-14.

Although Cincinnati said it would mix in 3-4 looks as well, that portion of the playbook will not be given to the players until later.

"We want to get good at what we do first before we start stretching out into other things,'' Bengals linebacker coach Jeff FitzGerald said. "We've got a pretty comprehensive package, and it will involve some 3-4 eventually. But I don't see it happening until later down the road.''

The most likely scenario will be in training camp when the team has more time.
