Ian Greengross, the agent of No. 4 overall pick Darren McFadden, is in town to talk to the Raiders about a contract. Greengross was with McFadden's father and stepmother, who stayed and watched practice. The Raiders and Greengross are expected to continue talking. McFadden said Tuesday he has every intention of being at training camp on time. Also from Raiders camp:
- For the second time this offseason, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said receiver Javon Walker is still a little heavy and needs to lose some weight. Walker, who was in excellent shape in Denver the past two years, said he feels good and he is working into better shape.
- Receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins dropped a few passes in the early session today after performing well Tuesday.
- There was little progress regarding running back Lamont Jordan, who the team is keeping out of practice while making an effort to trade him. He'll likely be cut soon if he is not traded.
- Kiffin praised defensive end Derrick Burgess for being a team player during a time in which the player is seeking a new contract. Burgess, who stayed away from the OTAs to work on his own, is participating in the mandatory minicamp.
"First of all, Derrick has handled himself with great class," Kiffin said. "The fact of being here and working and not saying anything about, just going to work, it's not an easy thing to do because there's a number of players around the league making more than him and on our roster and his position.
"He's a Pro Bowl player that has played great here in the past, battled through injuries last year to get back on the field. It's one of those situations. He does have two years left on his contract, makes it a little more difficult with him if it was his last year."
