There was a bit of controversy brewing as the Bucs had a workout this morning. The Bucs re-signed tight end Jerramy Stevens on Friday, but the move didn't seem to really register with the fan base or the media until St. Petersburg Times columnist John Romano strongly criticized the move in this morning's edition. Romano's column questioned the wisdom of signing a player who has had numerous off-field issues that never were fully revealed until the result of a lengthy investigation by The Seattle Times was published in January.

Tampa talk radio ran with the topic Tuesday and the local television cameras were swarming at the end of practice. But Stevens and coach Jon Gruden (the coach only talks periodically during offseason workouts and Tuesday was not a day he was scheduled to speak) did not address the media. But, at some point, the Bucs, who have shown a willingness to take chances on troubled players, are going to have to answer some questions about signing Stevens.
