The Raiders' search for a backup quarterback to could stay in the Bay Area. Former San Francisco backup Trent Dilfer, who is from nearby Aptos, could be an intriguing possibility in Oakland.

He seems to fit coach Lane Kiffin's mold of smart quarterbacks and would likely take the Raiders' offer. However, there hasn't been an offer yet even though the two sides have talked in the past.

Keep on an eye on this one, though. It could develop as the summer approaches. If Dilfer doesn't sign with Oakland, he could opt to retire. If the Raiders don't pursue Dilfer, they could bring back Daunte Culpepper to back up JaMarcus Russell.
