The Vikings' release of defensive end Erasmus James leaves them with one remaining member from their ill-fated 2005 draft class. By my count, every other team in the league has at least two of its 2005 draft choices. The average is four per team.
The Vikings' division rivals have a combined 12 members of their 2005 draft classes on their rosters. By my count, Tennessee leads the league with eight, followed by Philadelphia with seven and four teams with six: Baltimore, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Dallas. The Cowboys' total counts Chris Canty, a restricted free agent who remains unsigned.
At the other end, New Orleans, Washington, Buffalo, Houston and Denver each have only two remaining members from their 2005 draft classes. The Broncos should have three, but a gunman cut short Darrent Williams' life in January 2007. The Bills' total shrunk with the recent release of Kevin Everett.
