In case you missed it, we spent some time Thursday discussing whether or not Redskins wide receiver Antwaan Randle El could return a kick 100 yards if a hungry, 900-pound Black Bear was waiting at midfield. Randle El and noted bear expert Dr. Lynn Rogers squared off in a spirited debate on ESPN2's "First Take."

By the way, Randle El will be carrying a Honey-Baked ham instead of a football. The last time I checked, there were over 40 bear-related e-mails in my inbox. The following e-mail from a former bear handler at Baylor University -- otherwise known as Harvard on the Brazos.

"With regard to the debate on whether Antwaan Randle El could return a kick vs. a Black Bear, I think I could give some good input. I was a bear trainer for our beloved Baylor mascots from 2000-2002. Assuming the bear was motivated, Randle El has no shot. The bear has too much top-end speed. If the bear theoretically ran down on coverage and got close to the return man by about the 35, the bear could probably be juked but could use its recovery speed to catch the retun man before the goal line.

A bear was actually credited for a tackle when I was at Baylor. Before the team ran out onto the field, the band formed a lane for the team to run through. In those days, we had "Chance," named for the late school president, Dr. Herbert Reynolds, start in the middle of this lane and run across the field when the team came out. One afternoon against Iowa State, Chance darted around a trombone player causing his chain leash to sweep under the poor band member. These were the Kevin Steele years so it may have been the best tackle by a Baylor Bear that season."

Ahhh, that's rich. Keep it coming folks!
