Adam Stenavich's story is a reminder not to give up. While reporting for the story on how the sudden cancellation of the inaugural season of the All American Football League affected players, I talked to Stenavich, a former Michigan star who was going to play for the Detroit team in the AAFL.

Stenavich was one of the most passionate subjects interviewed for the story. He said the sudden collapse of the AAFL made him wonder if he wanted to play football again.

"It has soured me," Stenavich said two weeks ago. "I want to be in the NFL but all of these other leagues just aren't for me."

Stenavich, who had been with Green Bay and Carolina, said he was considering looking for work in the "real world." This was all great fodder for the story. But I couldn't use any of it. Stenavich signed with the Dallas Cowboys last week. So his ride into the real world will have to wait. This is just another example of how day-to-day life is for players trying to chase the dream.
