The Raiders' transformation at safety took a major turn Tuesday when they cut Stuart Schweigert. He was a starter until he got hurt last season.

With Schweigert out, Oakland turns to Gibril Wilson, who they signed to a huge deal in free agency, and former No. 7 overall pick Michael Huff. He moves to free safety from strong safety in an attempt to spark what has been a nondescript NFL career thus far.

Schweigert's play slipped in the past two years and he has been injury prone. He was a liability in coverage and against the run. The Raiders may miss Schweigert's swagger, though. He was a vocal leader and was never afraid to give his opinion.
