Chiefs won't push Johnson

The Chiefs are not going to rush star running back Larry Johnson back into the fray in offseason workouts.

Coming off a foot injury that ended his season last year, Johnson will be eased back into work. This is the right call by coach Herman Edwards. Johnson has a lot of mileage and there is no reason to push him now.

Plus, Kansas City can use this time to incorporate third-round pick Jamaal Charles into the offense. The tailback from Texas will likely lighten Johnson's load, anyway, so he can use all the extra work now to get ready for the season.
