Today's three-year contract extension signed by Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage continues a trend this offseason to increase continuity.

Savage is the third coach or front office staff member to receive an extension by the team, joining head coach Romeo Crennel and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski. It comes after the team had double-digit victories for the first time since 1994 and barely missed the playoffs via a tiebreaker to the Tennessee Titans.

Cleveland feels a major reason the team finally turned things around in 2007 was because it maintained stability at the top. There have been rocky moments for both Savage and Crennel during their tenures, but both weathered the storm and came out successful on the other end last season.

On paper it appears Cleveland's window to contend is just starting to open. Two major reasons for this are Savage and Crennel, and it will be interesting to see if they can continue to build off their initial success.
