The Seahawks count middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu as one of their leaders and the face of the franchise on defense. That hasn't changed following Tatupu's recent arrest on suspicion of drunken driving.

"He will make this right," team president Tim Ruskell told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer near the bottom of this column. "I know he will turn this into a positive thing. I truly buy into what he said. He will make amends."

What Tatupu said, basically, was that he was embarrassed and sorry for "making a poor decision and putting myself in a bad situation" -- essentially taking responsibility for his actions without admitting guilt to a specific charge. Tatupu issued the statement after news of the arrest broke Tuesday afternoon. He has been named to three Pro Bowls in three NFL seasons. This is his first known arrest.
