Raiders may be asking a lot of Spires

The Raiders reportedly are bringing defensive end Greg Spires on board. This is a move to upgrade their defensive end position and replace Chris Clemons, who signed with Philadelphia as a free agent.

It would be asking a lot of Spires to take over for Clemons, who led the team in sacks last season. Spires had two sacks for a well-coached defense in Tampa Bay last season and his career is winding down. Spires has been on the open market for nearly three months and he didn't get much attention. No offense to Spires, but this move smacks of desperation.
