It has been a banner week for Baltimore Ravens rookie quarterback Joe Flacco.
First, the former University of Delaware star became the highest drafted player in the school's history this weekend when the Ravens selected him No. 18 overall in the first round. Then Flacco put the final touches this week a three-year endorsement deal with Reebok, a representative from the shoe and apparel company confirmed.
Flacco joins a stable at Reebok that includes other NFL quarterbacks such as Vince Young of the Tennessee Titans, the Seattle Seahawks' Matt Hasselbeck and brothers Peyton and Eli Manning.
The company had sought out Flacco before the draft and feels he has good upside to be a marketable player.
"He's going to be our face, at least for the Ravens,'' said Reebok NFL sports marketing manager Kurt Evans. "Then, also, hopefully we'll have some big endeavors via print ads and possibly television.''
Flacco threw for 4,263 yards, 23 touchdowns and had a 144.9 passer rating during his senior year at Delaware. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound rookie comes into a good situation in Baltimore, where he'll compete for the starting job against Ravens signal callers Kyle Boller and Troy Smith.
Flacco was the second quarterback taken in this year's draft behind former Boston College player Matt Ryan, who was selected third overall by the Atlanta Falcons.
