The best team in the AFC West is getting the first crack at the 2008 season.

The Chargers have their team-wide minicamp this weekend in San Diego. They are the first AFC West tem to hold a full-team minicamp this offseason. Hashmarks will be on hand to chronicle the Chargers as they begin their run at what they hope ends with a Super Bowl run in Tampa.

Among the stories that will be followed is the health of several players including quarterback Philip Rivers, running back LaDainian Tomlinson, tight end Antonio Gates and center Nick Hardwick. It's expected that only Tomlinson, of this group, will participate in the minicamp.

Denver, Kansas City and Oakland will all have veteran camps in June. The Chiefs' rookies, led by first-rounders Glenn Dorsey and Branden Albert, work this weekend and the Raiders' rookies, led by tailback Darren McFadden work next weekend.
