Here are five more observations from Hashmarks' first day at Ravens' minicamp:
-The two key absences in minicamp today were left tackle Jonathan Ogden and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs. Ogden is pondering retirement following last year's toe injury, and Suggs was "franchised" this year, but is in the middle of a grievance whether he should be paid as a defensive end or outside linebacker.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh didn't care to comment much on Suggs.
"That's the business side of the thing,'' Harbaugh said.
-It appears second-year player Jared Gaither is the early favorite to replace Ogden if the future Hall of Famer doesn't return. Gaither got most the work with the first team today at left tackle.
-The Ravens practiced outside today despite constant rain. No one complained. But it is an interesting change of pace from the lighter way former head coach Brian Billick ran his practices Baltimore.
-Harbaugh said today that tight end Quinn Sypniewski is out for the year following a recent knee surgery.
-Assistant coach Cam Cameron is putting his imprint on the offense. Similar to the offense he ran in San Diego with Antonio Gates, Ravens tight end Todd Heap is being moved around in different position on the field to take advantage of matchups against the defense.
