The only downside to being a scratch golfer, naming your celebrity girlfriend and playing quarterback for the Cowboys is ... sorry, I couldn't come up with anything. Tony Romo appears to be living the good life, but on Wednesday, he came up short in U.S. Open sectional qualifying.
Tony fired a 5-over-par 75 at the Golf Club of Dallas, which is not a track he would normally play. Please watch this video in which an 11-year-old boy completely turns on his hero.
My pal Todd Archer, who can be seen lurking in the background during one interview, wrote that Romo missed a one-foot putt in Thursday's newspaper. I didn't think it was possible to miss a one-foot putt, but Tony pulled it off.
A lot of times he calls when he's having swing issues, but I haven't heard from lately. For the record, he's hanging on his left side too long during the backswing and he's not keeping the same wide base that's allowed him to consistently hit 340-yard drives in the past.
OK, glad we could solve that problem. Let's get back to football.
