As most of you know, I get a little uncomfortable when we go two or three days without hearing anything on the Pacman front. But never fear, our favorite crime-fighting cornerback is back in the news after a Nashville television station landed an exclusive with Arvin Edwards, the alleged gunman in the infamous Las Vegas strip club shooting in Feb. 2007.
When we last heard from Arvin, he was also being accused of extorting money from Pacman for "services rendered." Pacman flew across the country to pick Edwards out of a police lineup, which brought back memories of the classic film, "Usual Suspects."
Edwards told a NewsChannel 5 reporter by phone that he was not the one who fired shots into a crowd following a melee at the venerable Minxx Club. And he provided an interesting explanation as to why Pacman had no trouble picking him out of a lineup.
Edwards said the actual culprits told Pacman what he looked like. The alleged shooter apparently has several distinctive yet tasteful tattoos and a missing arm, thus becoming the easiest mark in the history of police lineups.
"I feel sorry for them and everything," Edwards said of the three people who were wounded in the shooting, "but I want to let them know I'm not the person who done this. I've been shot before. I know how it feels."
Edwards went on to tell the Channel 5 reporter that he thinks Pacman paid someone to "shoot that club up." He also said he had no reason to lie, which could be a bit of a stretch.
Being charged with three counts of attempted murder might be a decent reason to concoct a story, but we'll have to see how it plays out.
Can't wait for Pacman to move here. In fact, there are some absolute "steals" in Highland Park right now.
Much more to come.
