Former Appalachian State safety Corey Lynch feels he was drafted by the right team today when the Cincinnati Bengals selected him with the No. 177 overall pick in the sixth round.
"I know I'll have a good fan base,'' he said.
The reason?
Lynch was the player that blocked Michigan's potential game-winning field goal with Appalachian State last season that sealed one of the biggest upsets in college football history.
Cincinnati is about 100 miles away from Columbus, Ohio, which is home of Michigan's biggest rival in Ohio State University. There also is a large Buckeye fan base in Cincinnati and Lynch knows, if anything else, he will be revered for that memorable play.
"We heard from everybody--Ohio State people, Penn State people,'' Lynch said. "I had people e-mailing me that I didn't even know. It's funny to see how much fan animosity there is towards Michigan.''
