The first pick of the second day of the draft is a very interesting pick. Kevin Smith can run the ball. And that's good for the Detroit Lions because they need someone to run the ball. The Kevin Jones and Tatum Bell combo wasn't going to work, and it was clear the Lions had to address this position in the draft.

It was expected that the Lions could use the 15th pick on Jonathan Stewart or Rashard Mendenhall, but the Lions waited until the first pick of the second day and it might pay off.

Smith was a powerhouse at Central Florida and many scouts believe he can come in and make an instant impact. That's good news for the Lions. They need an instant impact.
