Did the Cowboys want McFadden?

I'm told by a Valley Ranch source that Jerry Jones was still trying to figure out a way to trade up for Darren McFadden on Saturday morning. Jones had maintained for months that he wouldn't trade into the top 10, but during a news conference Tuesday, he left the door open.

"He knows that you rarely have a chance to take a truly special player," said the source. "And Jerry thought this guy was an absolute superstar."

I'm also told that it would've taken more than the No. 22 and No. 28 picks to secure McFadden. I think if McFadden had slipped to the Jets at No. 6, Jerry may have come after him.

When the Cowboys went on the clock for the No. 22 pick, I'm told that Jones called in South Florida cornerback Mike Jenkins. He then called back and told Robert Blacwell, the Cowboys rep in New York, to scratch off Jenkins' name and replace it with Felix Jones.

The three names the Cowboys were choosing from were Jenkins, Felix Jones and Rashard Mendenhall, who went 23 to Chicago.
